jacflashion: to my loveliest Lew Kee
My best friend/partner Amanda Lew Kee had her show on Friday and I couldn't be more proud.... We will be carrying Amanda Lew Kee in jacflash for Spring 2011!
Below is an article by Toronto Life. For more pics click HERE.
Amanda Lew Kee, recent university grad and first-time LG Fashion Week participant, showed her spring 2011 collection on Friday, the last day of shows. Riding the buzz of her Ryerson Mass Exodus show in April (in which fourth-year fashion students present their collections), the designer had the place swarmed. The presentation was designated a “petite marquee” (where they cover up the top rows of seating), but organizers had to add extra seats for guests clamouring to get a look.
Models wearing Lew Kee’s trademark ice blue lipstick (even FDCC doyenne Robin Kay donned it in solidarity) walked in zippered everything—the sleeves of jackets, the cap sleeves of dresses, and down the front of the minis. The gals who wear Lew Kee are young, like the designer, who’s 21. It takes guts (not to mention a great bod) to wear the revealingly high-slit sheer two-tone maxis or the navel-skimming jackets. We’ve seen newbie designers’ (Sunny Fong and Evan Biddell come to mind) collections grow stronger with each season, and with her first major show under her belt, we look forward to Lew Kee’s future offerings.

jacflash new arrivals: spirit hoods
Spirit Hoods, a new line of faux fur animal hoodies, are showing up all over town and quickly becoming a closet staple of the quirky set. Chances are pretty good that if you’ve left your house lately, you’ve spotted a pack of twenty-somethings running around town wearing what appears to be stuffed animals on their heads. Likely, you’ve thought “WTF.” Upon first glance it’s a bit bizarre. But Spirit Hoods, the L.A.-based brand behind the faux fur animal hoods, seems to be taking the city by storm.
Spirit Hoods believes in the conservation and protection of both the planet and its animals, and to help give back they have partnered with and are actively donating a portion of their proceeds to several non-profit organizations dedicated to wildlife conservation, they call this Product Blue.
At Fred Segal salespeople swear by Spirit Hoods as the biggest new fashion trend. Celebrities have also caught onto the Spirit Hood trend...
Fergie in her Wolf Spirit Hood
Ke$ha in her Wolf Spirit hood for the cover of Paper Magazine
The gorgeous team at Wildfox used a couple of hoods for one of their editorials...
They are now available at jacflash!
