January 26^th is the Aussie day to shine, and with a piece of the jacflash family down under for the winter, why not warm you up with some of Australia’s best kept beauty secrets! Below you will find my personal top 5 tips that have kept supermodels like Abbey Lee, Elle MacPherson and Miranda Kerr at the top of the industry. With all the sun and salt water we knew there had to be some special tricks to keep them as stunning as they are...

1)      Tea Tree Oil – As Canadians may already know, Tea Tree Oil is a great treatment for dry skin problems and fighting off colds and viruses. But down in Oz this oil is used as a prime beauty supply. Australian women apply tea tree oil to the hair to nourish and prevent dandruff. Try mixing it into a leave in conditioner  and combing through damp hair. This can help with damaged broken hair and split ends. Mixing tea tree oil in moisturizer and applying on skin reduces sunburn and acne.  Even pets can benefit by mixing some of the oil into their shampoo to prevent shedding and odour!

2)      Tahitian Noni Juice – Miranda Kerr (Australia’s hottest new Victoria Secret model) swears by this juice as her number one beauty tip and secret.

jacflash event: Haiti, Je T'aime Benefit Show

Revival will host Haiti, Je T'aime tonight, with all proceeds going to Plan Canada in an effort to raise funds for the earthquake-torn country.

The evening promises DJ sets from Eon of Bedouin Soundclash, k-os, Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene, Blk Btlz, Starting From Scratch and DJ Paul E Lopes with MTV's Nichole Holness and Aliya-Jasmine Sovani hosting.

The live auction features fifty different items to bid on, including kicks signed by the entire Raptors team, concert tickets, jewelry, gift cards and more. Doors at 8 and a $10 minimum donation is required at the door, with the auction closing at 11:30 sharp.

Twin brothers, "Dee and Ricky Jackson, have been a part of downtown’s back drop since modeling for a handful of streetwear brands that started picking them out of the scenery. 5 years ago they began designing belts with XBox game controller buckles as part of a marketing scheme for the gaming system. Evolving their idea, the Staten Island boys are now creating versions of their belts using other brands’ controllers and mini Etch-A-Sketches, but their big break looks like its on the verge of happening right as we speak!

“We met Marc Jacobs through his boyfriend Jason Preston at a party in the Hamptons… Jason was feeling the belts so we gave him a couple. He showed Marc and Marc called us up personally, going crazy like ‘I want these belts for my show for fashion week!’”

Dee and Ricky’s Lego version belt and buckles appeared in the Marc by Marc Spring 2008 show in several forms including brooches, barrettes, and bolos and immediately became a favorite of Kanye West. Currently the twins are ironing out details for an exclusive deal with the luxury designer. They’ve already created a solid gold version of their Lego buckle and are currently working on several other big projects.

jacflash beauty secrets: 3 tips for sublime skin

1) Palmer's Cocoa Butter (solid formula)

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Concentrated cream moisturizer is great for winter's dry skin. It is also said to help and prevent stretch marks, scars, and blemishes. (warning: this solid formula feels quite "greasy" if you don't like very thick moisturizers you can go for the liquid serum.)

 Also amazing as a lip chap. How can you go wrong?


2) Nivea Body Sunkissed Firming Moisturizer

Yes, I use self tanner and I am proud to say it, since I stopped using tanning beds and without such a "tan" I would look disturbingly deathlike. I love the Medium to Dark version of this Nivea lotion and the smell is not so bad. This formula is very thin (especially in comparison to my usually desired solid cocoa butter consistency), but it actually moisturizes pretty well. The almost runny consistency is easy to spread evenly.


3) Rubbing Alcohol







As soon as I feel a zit coming on I zap it with rubbing alcohol.  Take a Q-Tip, dip it in the bottle of rubbing alcohol and simply apply on the zit. It disinfects as well as dries out the area.
